Th1/Th2 balance is crucial when treating Autoimmune Disorders and even more crucial in treating patients with Cancer. Most cancers leave the patient in a Th2 dominance (a suppressed Th1, Natural Killer Cell system). Are cancer patients autoimmune? Well, they tend to have the Th2 dominant imbalance and therefore ‘act’ autoimmune with similar inflammatory reactions, etc., that autoimmune patients have. Treating the Th2 dominance is very important, whether an antigen is present or not.
This is why (I believe) that many doctors classify a large number of cancers as having a ‘toxic cause’. They are reacting in an autoimmune fashion to an antigen that is suppressing their Th1 immune response and suppressing their body’s ability to fight the rapidly replicating cancer cells.
All patients with cancer need to be evaluated for this. It may make a BIG difference in the success of their care!
